My involvement with spotted horses began in 1972 with my first Pinto horse, a 15 year old tobiano grade mare named “Queen”. She was the quintessential kids horse; quiet enought to be safe, but challenging enough to teach. She was not a pleasure horse, so we did the gymkhana events at our local saddle club, and spent many hours on the trails of western PA where I grew up. I never “formally” drove her, but I seem to recall hooking her up to my sled with bailer twine one winter.....!

My first registered Paint horse was Honky Tonk Cowboy, “Hank”. He was a 1982 tovero gelding purchased in 1985. We showed extensively on the APHA and open show circuits in central PA and made many new friends. He was a very talented individual; a point earner in over ten events but his real talent was carriage driving. He was the APHA Honor Roll champion in OCAP/PAC Driving two years running,

In 1997 Mohicans Phantom came into my life as a six month old weanling. Phantom is a tovero gelding bred by Laura and John Auskamp at Greystone Ridge in Midland, OH. Phantom is truly an outstanding individual, and has excelled in the show ring in both open shows and the breed show ring.
In 2001 we made the long trip to the Pinto World Championship show in Tulsa, OK. All of our hard work paid off as we came home with two World Championships and lasting friendships. To see a photgraphic journal of our trip to Tulsa, click here.
