Welcome to “Driving In Color”, my personal website featuring two popular equestrian disciplines: Paint horses and carriage driving. I have been involved in horses since 1970, and have been driving over 20 years. I have been fortunate to have some exceptional equine partners during this time. Probably 90% of the emails I receive because of this site are “...I want to drive my horse but I don’t know where to start...” I was honored to be asked by the publishers of HuntSeatHorses.com to write a series of articles about my experiences training a driving horse. Phantom was my model and was the perfect sucess story.
Here are the links to the articles on their sit; when you are done reading please browse the remainder of their site; it is a great resource for not only the hunt seat horse but the horse industry as a whole.
This installment of "Carriage Driving Corner" features an illustration of Hank as a model for the parts of the harness.

In this issue of Paint Horse Corner, we will introduce you to the Pinto horse. As a rule, all Paints can be Pintos, but not all Pintos can be Paints. This page will help explain why.
Some of the awards and recognition that my equestrian friends and I have been honored with over the years. Hank was a two time APHA OCAP/PAC Honor Roll champion in Driving and the first horse to earn a Certificate of Recognition in that event. He also was recognized with the 1000 Hour award in APHA Ride America, featured articles in the Paint Horse Journal and a served as a “model” for Bellcrown Carriages of England in their 2001 catalog.
Phantom, in addition to his PtHA World Championships, has three PtHA Horse of the Year Top Tens, has earned points in over 15 events in the breed show ring, and, like Hank, has also earned a 1000 Hour Award in the APHA Ride America program. Most recently, Phantom has earned a 100 hour recognition award in the "Hours To Drive” program presented by the American Driving Society.
